Woodson High Alumni supports the home team behind the scenes
Each fall, a few Pride Air Conditioning & Heating technicians spend an afternoon doubling as a water delivery service, dropping off nearly 2,000 bottles of water to WT Woodson High School in Fairfax. The Woodson Athletic Boosters then sell the bottles during sporting events, with 100 percent of proceeds benefitting the school’s athletic teams.
“We’ve been doing it for years,” said Fred McColllum, owner of Pride, which is based in Manassas, VA, and a Woodson alumni. “These kids are working hard on the field and in school. It feels good being able to support them in this way, helping them raise money for equipment, or for team travel. It’s our way of rooting them on.”
McCollum, who can also often be found rooting the teams on from sidelines, said funds raised through water bottle sales help to support the range of sports teams at Woodson, which include golf, softball, baseball, gymnastics, lacrosse and crew.
